If you take healthy diet, you will look young and healthy. Skin care is not all about using beauty creams. If you wish to have better looking skin, there are few diet tips that you should concentrate to achieve best looking skin.

Fluids:

Fluids are very essential for keeping the skin healthy and hydrated. Fluids mean fruit juice and water. Many experts recommend drinking at least eight glasses of water each day. Water helps skin cells to absorb nutrient and remove waste. You should never replace water with coffee or carbonated beverages because they are diuretic in nature and causes fluid loss from the body.

Essential Fatty Acids:

It is also known as EFAs. They are of two types. One is omega-3 fatty acid and another is omega-6. Omega-3 is the essential fatty acid that we need for our skin. They keep the skin cell membrane healthy and help in allowing the nutrients to flow in and block the harmful substance outside. Our body cannot produce EFAs so we need to obtain it through food. Olive oil is one of the best source of EFA. Seafood, salmon, walnuts, flex seed are some other sources if essential fatty acids.

Antioxidants:

Antioxidants are the nutrients that play a key role in destroying the free radicals. It is extremely necessary for looking young because free radicals damages collagen of skin as a result skin loses its elasticity and look old. The best source of antioxidant is blueberries. Tomatoes, green tea, extra virgin olive oil, fruits like papaya, mango, blackberries, strawberries, and plum are also good source of anti-oxidants.

Vitamin A:

Vitamin A helps in the formation of new cells. It is also very necessary for the good health of eyes and hair. Lack of vitamin A causes skin to dry and flaky. Whole milk, liver, oily fish, eggs, green vegetables like broccoli and spinach are good source of vitamin A. You should include these foods in your diet to keep the skin healthy.

Vitamin C:

Vitamin C is very essentials for the production of collagens which gives elasticity to the skin. Vitamin C is also strong antioxidant which destroys free radicals in body responsible for aging. Tomatoes, potatoes, papaya, kiwi, broccoli, Fruits like orange, lemon and lime are good source of vitamin C.

Vitamin E:

Vitamin E helps our skin to retain its moisture. Vitamin e also has skin healing properties. It is a powerful antioxidant that helps us to fight against aging. Vegetable oils, peanut butter, wheat germ, banana, whole grain, eggs and red meat are good source of vitamin E.

Most people don't understand the importance of essential fatty acids in skin health. Adding fish and olive oil to our daily diet is not only great for our overall health its great for our skin.

I like the phrase you used “You are what you eat”. I agree with all points you mentioned regarding Diet that makes skin healthy and glowing .Actually for keeping healthy skin we should focus on for diet. I think omega-3, antioxidant like- vitamin( A,C,E) can play the vital role for mainlining healthy skin.

I've noticed my skin looks the best after I've had lots of water, and especially after days of drinking lots of water. But adding fruit, seeds and the other ideas you've suggested to the mix is a great idea, especially as drinking that much water can be tedious.
