vomitingVomiting is a common health issue which we all face many times in our life. Throwing out content of stomach by way of mouth is known as vomiting. Vomiting, also known as emesis occurs as a result of contraction of stomach muscles. Vomiting is a general symptom during pregnancy and many times referred as Morning Sickness. Sometime stomach tries to expel something from the mouth but nothing came out, this phenomenon is known as retching. Sometimes vomiting comes as indication of some serious health issue.

Causes of Vomiting:

There are many things that cause vomiting. Most common causes includes

  • People suffering from motion sickness starts vomiting while traveling in vehicles.
  • Vomiting is common in early stage of pregnancy.
  • Food poisoning and overeating also causes vomiting.
  • Sometimes an unpleasant smell or site stimulates vomiting.
  • Migraines, Flu, heart attack, intense pain, ulcer, cholera, stomach problems result in vomiting.
  • Certain medicines provoke vomiting.
  • Viral infection or allergy with some food can originate vomiting.

Home remedies for Vomiting:

Vomiting induced from food poisoning,  overeating, motion sickness are very common. They can be treated with some simple home remedies.

  1. Ginger tea is an excellent remedy to cure vomiting.
  2. Cut a lime in half and squeeze its content in a glass of cold water. Add sugar or salt whatever you prefer for taste. Drink this juice every two-three hours.
  3. Avoid taking any solid food especially spicy, oily and heavy food for 10-12 hours after vomiting. Instead take fluids like fruit juice, carbonated beverages and water.
  4. Make a juice by mixing one tbsp of honey and apple cider vinegar in a glass of water and drink it before going to sleep.
  5. Chewing few cloves or cardamoms is also helpful in relieving from vomiting.
  6. You can also try one tsp of onion juice every two three hours to get relief from vomiting.
  7. Create a drink by mixing 1 tsp mint juice, ½ tsp ginger juice, 1 tsp lime juice and 1 tsp honey in a glass of water. You can take this drink 2-3 times in a day.
  8. Fry 2-3 cardamom and crush them in powder form. Mix it in 1 tsp of honey and take this mixture 2-3 times in a day.

These are some tips to cure vomiting but remember that vomiting may be the symptom of some serious health problem. If the above mentioned home treatments are not working then you should seek a doctor.
